Sagada's Misty Lodge and Café

Misty Lodge
Misty Lodge

When going on vacation, no matter how much we have the best laid plans to stay within budget, we still end up spending a little bit more than we want. Why not spend a little over your budget to sleep comfortably while on vacation, right?

In Sagada, you will not find any luxury hotels – or anything luxurious, for that matter.  Lodges and inns are very affordable, even those that can accommodate 4 or more people.

When my partner and I visited Sagada (November 4-7,2015), we opted for Misty Lodge and Café as our temporary home away from home.  We were hesitant to stay for the 2 nights that we originally booked for because the hotel is a 15-20 minute walk from the town proper.  It felt like an hour because it was an uphill walk to the hotel.

THE PEOPLE. We immediately decided to stay when we got to the lodge.  In fact, we extended our stay for another night.  Why, you ask? It felt so homey.  The owners were very accommodating and they made us feel welcome.  They were very attentive and sensitive to their customers’ needs.  They were quick to answer our inquiries.  They reminded us of our itinerary for the day, and even suggested all other things that we can do during our stay. They also gave us pointers on where and how to get the best deals of Sagada products, including the best and most affordable restos in town!

THE PLACE. We fell in love with the lodge. The usual hotel-and-inn lobby is not to be found in this lodge. The entrance leads you straight to the dining area.  There are books everywhere, and you can even borrow them! They have a huge collection you can choose from.

THE FOOD. We tried other restos, but we had most of our meals at the lodge’s own café.  This meant walking to town and back again. The food are all delicious! I would recommend their tapsilog – that is their best seller. It was damn good, is number 2 on my list.  My number 1 – Pizza Margherita!  Simple yet so tasty, and so unforgettable, their Pizza Margherrita was not bland, nor was it salty.  It was just right!  Right enough to make you salivate and crave for more.  Even with one slice on my hand, I was already looking forward to the next one!  Pure heaven!

I truly recommend Misty Lodge, guys!  Oh – and by the way, they DO have a shuttle to and from the town proper.  This, however, is subject to availability.

For rates and reservation, you may want to check their FB page https://www.facebook.com/Misty-Lodge-and-Cafe-333764409989031/

Make up: A powerful Tool

Since I was little, I was always fond of cosmetics.  I like how it can make my cheeks so red and glittery. I used to crash my big sister’s purse and play with her make-up products. I always volunteer myself whenever she wanted to practice or try a make-up she saw on a magazine.

Basically, cosmetics make me feel good and confident about myself even when I was still a little kid. As I grow older, I found more interesting things about make up.  A little creativity, and a wide range of imagination, you can create a very beautiful or a mess but magnificent work.

Halloween, just passed by and I saw a lot of incredible works online. One of my favorites is the “zipper” idea. I watched one of its video tutorials, and I can say as a non-professional it is easy to do, so I decided to copy it. But, I am too shy to post it, so sorry.  I posted pictures from the web that inspired me below.

There are also online bloggers that used cosmetics as their vehicle to success. My two favorites are KathleenLights and Michelle Phan. I like how simple their video tutorials are, they are easy to follow and not exaggerated. I even bought the book of Michelle to help me more understand the how to's of cosmetics. I understand that it is not just pigments of colors, some dust that you put on your face to add color and change your look.

Make-up is not just an accessory or an ornament that can enhance your appearance.  More than that, it can boost one self esteem, for some they make a living out of it. So next time, don't say it is just make-up, and although I believe that true beauty is in the eye of the beholder, there is nothing wrong in adding some pigmented dust on your face.
